The High Desert has come a long way in trying to re-establish a sense of community after years of crime on the rise. 7th Street and 6th Street are on their way to doing what most of us living here haven’t had the guts to do and that is to create a family-friendly environment for locals and visitors just passing through.

HD Family Night Market has a collective of vendors selling adorable knickknacks, bright and fun toys, and delicious street food from their trucks. Some booths provide information ranging from family assistance programs to real estate and of course, you can’t have a good time without some MUSIC. If you’re in need of some tumblers, BR’s Creations Boutique should be your go to spot for adorable collectibles!

I had the pleasure of speaking to some of the vendors that have a passion to spread joy and make genuine connections with the people.

This vendor that stood out to me the most sells an assortment of sweets that she makes from her stylish pink teardrop trailer; I’m a sucker for pancakes and the menu looked amazing. I’d like to give a shout-out to Alejandra for letting me take her picture to get her name out there in hopes of bringing in some more foot traffic! Check out her IG, she offers catering services! HD Family Events has been making headway in ushering attention to the high desert and I thank them for wanting to bring 7th Street back to life!

6th Street has also converted its corner (located right by the historical Route 66 Museum) into a diverse habitat where local food trucks from various cultures come to sell their goodies. Come enjoy a night out with the family and play some cornhole in the grassed area.

I recommend Estilo Culichi and their mouthwatering agua frescas. My assistant and I picked the watermelon with the chamoy rim, topped with a tamarindo straw.

If I didn’t already have a big dinner, I would have got myself some ceviche tostilocos -stomach gurgle-
These two Friday night events are almost side by side and both are filled with an abundance of Hispanic love! I hope this keeps going and I’m here to help bring in some revenue for anyone and everyone willing to participate. Let’s go, Victorville! Don’t give up!
